In an effort to support Speedo’s Swim Amnesty, which aims to raise money for Cancer Research U.K., Melanie Chisholm has donated some of her swimsuits. Every ton of swimsuits and goggles donated translates to $1,600 to be given by Speedo to the charity. Mel C says, “This is a great cause, I am glad that my old swimming costume will be recycled but (will) also raise loads of money for Cancer Research. It would be great to see everybody joining in and donating last season’s swimwear to help this fantastic cause. It’s also a great excuse to buy a new cossie (costume)!”
It looks like Mel C’s getting back to her super sporty roots. On July 30, she’ll be taking part in the Virgin Active London Triathlon to raise money for Sparks, the children’s charity. You can cheer her on if you’re in London that time, but if not, you can show your support by making a donation to sponsor her!
During a meal with Gordon Ramsay at trendy Gjelina in Venice, California on May 31st, Victoria Beckham requested that her smoked trout salad be served with the dressing on the side, and without the grapefruit, avocado, red onion, and lemon normally accompanying the salad. Gjelina appears to take its “no substitutions” policy pretty seriously, and denied her request. Gordon was pretty incensed about this, saying, “The lady’s pregnant! No one is asking to be fussy…I still think that’s the customer’s prerogative…It was a sour note. I don’t think customers should be treated that way. That might not be the way I choose to eat it, but that’s what the customer wants.”
Apparently, Gjelina does have a pretty strict “no substitutions” policy, stating on its menu, “Changes & modifications politely declined.” Personally, I don’t see how difficult it would have been to leave out the garnishes and putting the dressing in a small bowl and the restaurant would have still come out ahead since Posh will most likely be paying full price for a salad without all the add-ons. But oh well, a policy is a policy…?
Geri Halliwell certainly looks happy and relaxed nowadays, especially in recent pictures of her on vacation. Here’s one shot of Geri frolicking with boyfriend Henry Beckwith at Paloma Beach in Sain Jean Cap Ferrat in the South of France. The pair’s playtime got a bit frisky, with Henry pretending to throw her into the water; Geri clung on tightly to his shirt, as seen in the pic.
She also headed down to the Monaco Formula One Grand Prix at the Monte Carlo circuit. Her green jumpsuit and magenta heels were definitely eye-catching. She certainly needs all the rest days she can get, especially since she’s due to start work soon on her forthcoming solo album entitled Putting on the Bling.
Eek! It seems like someone posing as Geri Halliwell on Twitter played a little trick on Mel B. After a few tweets back and forth with Emma, Mel C, and the fake Geri, it seems like a quick discussion about a possible Spice Girls tour came up, with Mel replying, “whoop whoop hands up for another spice tour!!!!! count me in” and following that up with, “hope the other girls say yes, to spice touring again,to perform spice songs again would be AMAZING,spice fans here we come,fingers crossed.” The fake Geri was soon exposed.
Emma Bunton and Jade Jones welcome a new baby into their family! Emma tweeted a couple of hours ago, “Our beautiful son Tate has arrived safe and sound! We are all so happy and excited. Thanks and love to you all. Xx” Congratulations!
Melanie Chisholm has been doing some good deeds lately. She auctioned off a pair of red jeans she wore in the 2007 Isle of Wight Festival, as well as a shirt with a cat design which she wore on one of her tours in Germany, with The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation benefiting from the money raised by her items. As a supporter of Kandu Arts, a charity organization that seeks to promote development, she also sang a song, entitled “Viva Life”, for Bash Street, a small-budget film released by the group. More than a decade ago, she donated proceeds from her 2000 single “If That Were Me” to the group as well.
We’ve all known Geri to be the curvy one in the Spice Girls, and we were all pretty surprised when she unveiled a much trimmer figure after she left the group. Since then, her weight’s always been fluctuating: sometimes, she’s regained her voluptuous figure, another time she’s back to having etched abs and killer muscle definition. In a recent photoshoot and interview with the British edition of Glamour magazine, however, she says she’s done with all the crash dieting, saying her body snaps back to its natural weight anyway no matter how hard she diets.
She adds, “If I put pressure on myself to suddenly lose weight for a specific day, I’ll end up overeating instead. So I just eat sensibly and normally. There’s no cutting back. Because for me, the body will always spring back to what it wants to be anyway.”
You look good anyway, Geri, and it’s definitely a positive thing that you’ve come to accept your body as it is and just focusing on staying healthy.
Word is that Geri Halliwell’s mum recently met her boyfriend Henry Beckwith’s parents, further sparking talk that the two are set to get hitched soon. And further fanning the flames are sightings of Geri checking out a church recently. Scoping out a good wedding venue, maybe? Is the ginger one truly ready to tie the knot?
Melanie Chisholm turned out an excellent performance in the musical Blood Brothers, and it seems like she’s impressed far more than just the audience. Our dear Sporty Spice is nominated for the Outstanding Newcomer prize for her role! The winners of the Evening Standard Theatre Awards will be announced on the 28th.
